Health Evaluation

Learning someone is experiencing memory loss is usually a gradual process. You may notice that someone who used to be very neat and organized has lots of clutter and is not keeping the home or themselves clean. You may become aware that mail and bills are piling up and that there is spoiled or no food in the refrigerator. If you start seeing signs of possible dementia, we’ll conduct a comprehensive assessment, in conjunction with appropriate medical professionals, to obtain an accurate diagnosis. There may be other factors contributing to their memory loss, including medications, infections or underlying medical conditions, which is why a complete health evaluation is critical.

Should it be determined that the person has dementia, we’ll assess the level of impairment and determine the best course of action based on needs. We’ll create a plan of care, which many include recommendations to health providers who specialize in dementia care. Our network of professional relationships throughout New Jersey with experts in the field of dementia care includes geriatricians, neurologists, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, and many others who are devoted to helping ensure those living with memory loss are able to maintain their independence and dignity. We can help you evaluate treatment options and provide family members with the tools and support they need to help maintain a meaningful relationship with their loved one.

Creating a Safe and Comfortable Home

Familiar surroundings often provide comfort to those living with memory loss. If the individual wants to remain in their own home, we’ll make recommendations for in-home care as well as modifications that could help the individual live more safely. If this is not a viable option, we can help you find alternative living solutions utilizing our extensive knowledge of, and experience working with, care facilities throughout New Jersey. Unlike placement services or agencies, we accept no referrals fees from facilities to recommend them. We recommend solely on the basis of our experiences and knowledge of quality care metrics.
